Hot Brewing Tips: Herbal teas can take a lot of heat, so steep in boiling water at 210°- 215°F until your infusion reaches its best flavor. Longer steeping = more intense flavor!
Cover While Steeping: Always cover your teacup, mug, or teapot while brewing to prevent all the delicious aromatic oils from escaping.
Number of Steeps per Infusion: 2-4 steeps per infusion.
Don't throw out your used leaves yet! You can re-steep the same leaves within 4-6 hours of your previous steep. Don't wait too long, wet tea decomposes quickly and loses its flavor.
Our favorite re-use method: To get the best out of your used tea leaves: place the used leaves in a jar of cold water in the fridge overnight to make a smooth cold-brewed tea for the next day.
Do not refrigerate wet leaves after steeping. If you cannot re-steep immediately, you can spread the leaves on a paper towel to air dry in a well-ventilated area. Ensure leaves are fully dry within a few hours to prevent bacterial growth. Moist tea leaves are a breeding ground for bacteria and mold. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. Re-use dried leaves within 24 hours.
** Be aware that re-drying can reduce the flavor intensity and, if not done properly, can still risk bacterial growth**
Re-Steeping: Use the same water temperature as your first infusion (boiling - 212°F) and increase steeping time by 1-2 minutes for each subsequent round.
Average 8 oz. cups of tea per container: 1 oz. = 15 - 20 cups / 1.5 oz. = 25- 30 cups
