Meet our Floor Manager : Kajol

Before there were candles, labels, or any of this — there was Kajol.

 

Our almost-12-year-old German Shepherd. Our shadow, our supervisor, our self-appointed wax quality control specialist. She didn't apply for the job. She just claimed it, the way she claims every room she walks into — like she's been here longer than you and already knows how this ends.

She is, officially and unofficially, the Floor Manager of Happy Panda Home.

 

      

The Beginning

Happy Panda was built during slow evenings and long thoughts — the kind of nights where you're not sure if you're building something real or just dreaming out loud. Kajol was there for all of it. Stretched out nearby while we tested scents, packed boxes, and talked ourselves into believing this could become something.

She didn't have opinions about candle names or packaging. But she made the whole thing feel possible. More grounded. More like home.

 

                                           

Her Duties

Kajol takes her role seriously. She supervises all candle production from the optimal napping location, monitors snack distribution with an iron paw, and greets delivery drivers with the energy of someone who has concerns. She has broken into boxes on multiple occasions to conduct her own quality review. She was unimpressed with our security measures. We were not surprised.

She is also, on the hard days, the best reason to just sit down on the floor for a minute and breathe.

 

Why She Matters

Kajol was recently diagnosed with Degenerative Myelopathy — a progressive condition common in German Shepherds. We don't know exactly how much time we have with her.

What we do know is that she's teaching us something right now, in real time: be present. Sit on the floor. Feel the warmth. Light the candle tonight instead of saving it for someday. Enjoy and appreciate each day.

That's not just something we believe — it's woven into everything we make.

 

The Heart of It

When you bring one of our candles home, it was made in a space with a shepherd nearby, keeping watch the way she always has. Kajol is why we believe in warmth, in comfort, in the quiet magic of ordinary evenings at home with the people (including Shepherds!) that you love.

 

She helped build this, silently judging us... as all good German Shepherds do.  And as long as she's here, she'll keep supervising — from the best spot on the floor, obviously.

She's in everything we do.🐾
